Public facilities can take a significant chunk out of both capital and operating budgets, with the strain of maintaining older facilities surpassed only by the daunting proposition of funding a remodel or rebuild. That’s why when Public Performance Partners and our client, ESC of North Central Ohio, formed the North Central Ohio Council of Governments (NCORcog), we immediately recognized the opportunity to consolidate aging municipal and county court buildings in Seneca County.
The result was a grant from the Local Government Innovation Fund (LGIF) to study the potential of a combined Seneca County Joint Justice Center, which found a potential savings of over $3.7M; a great example of cost saving collaboration in local government. County commissioners recently approved the final budget for the center, with construction expected to complete by the Fall of 2017.
